FESTIVAL SEASON:

The rebirth of a legendary thrash metal band highlights an amazing line-up of artists set to perform this summer at North America's Largest Rock Festival.
Slayer is among the 140 bands set to perform across five stages over four days at Louder Than Life. The festival is scheduled for Sept. 26 through 29 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.
The full line-up was announced on Wednesday by Dan Wimmer Presents.
Slipknot, Slayer, Motley Crue and Korn are set for headline performances at the 10th anniversary of the festival. Other bands scheduled to play include Disturbed, Judas Priest, Five Finger Death Punch, Evanescence, Falling in Reverse, Breaking Benjamin, the Offspring and Staind.
"We're thrilled to announce that Slayer will be reuniting for an earth-shattering performance at Louder Than Life,” said Danny Wimmer of Danny Wimmer Presents. ”I was at their last show at The Forum in 2019 and have been working since then to bring them back to the Louder stage! We’re celebrating our 10th Louder Than Life with the biggest lineup yet!"
Slayer completed a farewell tour in November of 2019 and has not performed together since. The band released a statement on Wednesday announcing their much-anticipated return.
“Nothing compares to the 90 minutes when we’re on stage playing live, sharing that intense energy with our fans,” Slayer singer/bassist Tom Araya said. "And to be honest, we have missed that.”
"Have I missed playing live? Absolutely," guitarist Kerry King said. "Slayer means a lot to our fans; they mean a lot to us. It will be five years since we have seen them."
Araya and King are the two remaining original members of the band. Gary Holt (guitar) and Paul Bostaph (drums) also return to the band's line-up.
Slayer will also play Riot Fest in Chicago on Sept. 22.
Those are the only two tour dates the band has currently announced.
Slayer also appeared at Louder Than Life in 2016.
Last year, a record 180,000 fans — aka Loudmouths — packed the Highlands Festival Ground for four days of music.
The 10th anniversary of the event features several artists who appeared at the first LTL (2014) — Judas Priest, Korn, Mastodon, Nonpoint, Five Finger Death Punch and In This Moment.
